New Workshop

This weekend we are starting a new workshop that will run every month. It is a follow up on Life development 101 and will add great value towards personal growth. Once again it is very experiential and promises to change a few paradigms and habits.

To do this workshop you don't need to do 101. It can be done before 101 as both workshops build on each other.

We are excited about the prospect of the life change through this workshop and look forward to working with our first group of people.

The Empty Shells of Plettenberg Bay

This weekend my wife and I spend time with two good friends. We were invited by them to spend the weekend in Plettenberg bay to celebrate his 41st birthday. He is a brilliant architect and has designed many of the beautiful houses in this beautiful little coastal town.

He mentioned something that struck me. He said that the bigger and more expensive the house, the less time the owners spend in Plettenberg Bay, cause they have to work hard to afford this place. Wow, how ironic. The person enjoying this house is the domestic worker who just has to keep it clean. She is living in the house for 365 days a year with a great view, while her boss is working his butt of to afford the place. He only gets there 3 weeks a year!!!

Is it worth it though? Should we work so hard for a material possession and then never have the opportunity to enjoy it?

My friend has a little flat in Plettenberg bay and they fly down every 3 weeks! It is because his little place is paid! He doesn't have to work so hard to afford a big place, and believe me he can!! Why own something that you don't use?

I suppose it is a good investment, but that is all it is!

Change is possible

Working with people is such a privilege. The best though is to see them change. It is the greatest feeling when you actually see people taking responsibility for their own lives. People who don't change are those who keep on blaming those around them, but they never try and do something about their predicament.

Change still happens if you were wondering. When we sit down with people to set goals and to change their negative habits by substituting them with positive ones, change is unavoidable. Lives change, people live with more purpose and people win back happiness.

Grateful

A friend of mine is doing humanitarian/missionary work in India. This is a photo he published a couple of days ago. We always focus on those who have more than us. We should grow to where we see those who have less than we do.

These two boys are both without one leg, but share crutches. Reflect on your life today and be grateful.

We love the movies.

We believe in storytelling. We can learn so much from other peoples experience in life. The problem with humanity is that we isolate and don't learn from each other. Movies are stories from which we can learn too!

That's why in most of our workshops, you would see us referring to movies and specific scenes in the movies! We can learn so much from other people, but we need to be teachable. As soon as something offends us, we shut ourselves up! We can't do that. We must challenge ourselves to listen to other perspectives.

Working with companies I have experienced how many on management just refuse to listen to those lower down in the system. Open yourself up to listen to other stories, trials and experience. You might just develop a more accurate and relevant paradigm of those around you!

Sufficient rest

My wife and I went on a week break. We drove to The Kwa-Zulu Natal North Coast to spend a week at St. Lucia. We visited many of the sights in the area and really rested well.

I have again just realized the importance of building regular breaks into my program. The culture in South Africa is to rest once a year. Then people go on 3 weeks holiday and try and rest to get rid of the whole years stress. This hardly works.

We recommend most of our clients to rest at least 4 times a year. Even if its just a weekend away from town. This increases productivity and vitality. This brings balance into your life.
